Wild Resource Conservation Grant Program (WRCP)

The Wild Resource Conservation Grant Program (WRCP) was established in 1982 to support the conservation of non-game wildlife and native plants in Pennsylvania. It facilitates funding for research, management, and conservation efforts focused on threatened species and their habitats. Administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the program plays a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and promoting environmental stewardship through targeted grants.

The Wild Resources Conservation Act was created in 1982 to aid in the conservation of the Commonwealth’s non-game wildlife and native wild plants and their habitats. It enabled citizens to support wild resources by creating a contribution opportunity. Each year, these funds support the survey, research, management, and conservation of wild resources through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (DCNR’s) Wild Resource Conservation Program (WRCP). This important program helps fund research and conservation of threatened and endangered plants and wildlife, their critical habitats, and orphan taxa such as terrestrial invertebrates and fungi.
WRCP is charged with administering grants through funding from the Wild Resource Conservation Fund (WRCF) and a portion of the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF).
