About DCNR Established on July 1, 1995, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is charged with: Maintaining and protecting 121 state parksManaging 2.2 million acres of state forest landProviding information on the state's ecological and geologic resourcesEstablishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional heritage parks, open space, and natural areas. DCNR Mission DCNR’s mission is to conserve and sustain Pennsylvania’s natural resources for present and future generations’ use and enjoyment. DCNR Vision As Pennsylvania’s leader and chief advocate for conservation and outdoor recreation, DCNR will inspire citizens to: Value their natural resourcesEngage in conservation practicesExperience the outdoors Project Types for ATV and Snowmobile Trails: All-Terrain Vehicle and Snowmobile projects include the planning, acquisition of land, development, rehabilitation, maintenance, purchase of equipment for maintenance and construction, and development of educational programs related to ATV and/or snowmobile trails and facilities. Funding comes from the ATV Management Restricted Account and the Snowmobile Management Restricted Account as authorized by Act 97 of 2016. Acquisition ATV and Snowmobile Land Acquisition Projects involve the purchase of fee simple title or perpetual easement to real property for subsequent development of ATV or snowmobile trails and facilities. Planning ATV and Snowmobile Planning Projects examine the feasibility of developing trails and facilities for ATV or Snowmobile activities. Development, Rehabilitation, or Maintenance ATV and Snowmobile Development Projects construct new and rehabilitate and maintain existing ATV or snowmobile trails and facilities. Equipment Purchase ATV and Snowmobile Equipment Purchase Projects involve the purchase or lease of equipment to be used exclusively for the maintenance or construction of ATV or snowmobile trails and facilities. Educational Programs ATV and Snowmobile Educational Program Projects involve the development and operation of educational programs that promote safety and environmental protection as those objectives relate to the use of ATVs or snowmobiles.Eligibility

ONLY ATV or snowmobile projects should be submitted in this category.Municipalities, municipal agencies, pre-qualified land trusts and appropriate/authorized organizations are eligible applicants.Municipalities are eligible for most grant program funding sources; however, there are limited funding sources for private, non-profit organizations, with the exception of pre-qualified land trusts. Some for-profit enterprises may be eligible for funding through the Pennsylvania Recreational Trails (PRT) Program and the Snowmobile Grant and the All-Terrain Vehicle Grant programs.Appropriate/Authorized organizations must be both tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and registered with the PA Department of State, Bureau of Charitable Organizations.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
