Eligible members can apply for financial assistance to attend conferences, research meetings, and training courses, or assist in water science projects. This initiative honors Alan Tetlow's contributions to water chemistry and emphasizes the importance of water sustainability through practical applications in chemical science.Overview
Alan Tetlow Memorial Bursary The Alan Tetlow Memorial Bursary aims to help encourage early career chemists (during the first 10 years of their career) and those returning to work after a career break to develop their professional career. John Alan Tetlow, who died, aged 70, in February 2005, was one of the founder members of the RSC Water Chemistry Forum (now the Water Science Forum). Alan retired as a Regional Manager in the then National Rivers Authority and devoted many years of his life to improving the quality of the water environment in England and Wales. Most importantly he helped to raise the profile of the water chemist within both the RSC and the water industry. The Alan Tetlow Memorial Bursary commemorates Alan’s work and the importance of water chemistry. Members can apply for financial assistance to advance their career in relation to the following activities, to: Attend conferences for the purpose of presenting a poster or paperAttend research meetings (including young researcher meetings)Visit UK or international laboratoriesComplete training courses; andAssist in research relating to water science projects in general Please note that activities are not restricted to those above only. However, the activity needs to contain a high proportion of water related chemical science which contributes to water sustainability (environment, economic, social) and have an identifiable practical application.Eligibility
