Recipients will receive a $10,000 prize, a custom engraved award, and recognition at AGU's annual meeting. Eligible nominees must be established leaders with proven contributions to DEI initiatives.

The Warren Washington Lifetime Achievement Award for Advancing Inclusive Science Excellence recognizes exemplary efforts made throughout a senior scientist’s career for developing program/s, systems, or networks that have led to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Earth and space science profession.
The nominees for this distinguished award are individuals who have exemplified success and can inspire others from diverse backgrounds to embrace and drive sustainable change within the profession.
The award is named after Warren Washington for his unparalleled contributions to advancing both scientific excellence and diversity in the geosciences.

Eligibility

Peer OR self-nomination permittedThe nominee must be an experienced senior scientist who is an established leader in their field.The nominee's body of work including evidence of:reducing structural barriers and advancing DEI scholarship, pedagogy, policies, practices, advocacy, and outreach
innovation and new approaches
leadership, mentorship, and/or volunteer service to address and advance DEI issues
contributions across the Union or STEM
alignment with AGU strategic goals and envisioned futureNominatorsNominators must be active AGU members.
