Volunteer Group Grant Program

Purpose: Provide grants to volunteer groups that look after one or more San Mateo County Parks.

Geographic Scope: San Mateo County, California

Eligible Activities

Volunteers provide a variety of services including:
• Pulling weeds and growing native plants
• Leading hikes
• Picking up litter
• Trail maintenance and restoration
• Park interpretation and education
• Community engagement programs

Recent Award Recipients

• Friends of Edgewood - Engages in restoration, preservation and protection of Edgewood's natural resources; provides field guides and nature education
• Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks - Promotes health and community benefits; supports equitable and inclusive access
• Friends of San Pedro Valley Park - Interprets park resources; hosts webinars on plants, animals and fungi
• Pacific Beach Coalition - All-volunteer community protecting and preserving ocean, beaches, creeks and wildlife; leads "Street to Beach" cleanups
• San Bruno Mountain Watch - Preserves and expands wildlands; connects people to nature; maintains digital archives of local history
