Very Small Agency Backfill Program

Designed to assist very small agencies (10 or fewer peace officers) with schedule coverage so their staff can attend law enforcement training. Can be used to backfill for certified officers and sworn detention officers. Larger agencies given consideration on a case-by-case basis. POST helps qualifying agencies contact larger agencies willing to provide staff coverage. POST reimburses providing agency up to $50/hr for each hour their staff works, which includes benefit costs. Additional funds available for travel time, lodging costs and mileage. Application must be submitted as soon as possible, but no less than 30 days in advance of training.
