Vermont Community Action Team Grant Program

The Vermont Community Action Team Grant Program, funded by the Ben & Jerry's Foundation, provides small grants, typically under $2,000, to local non-profits and community programs in Vermont. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed monthly. The program prioritizes support for underserved populations, addressing basic needs, and fostering community involvement. Ineligible organizations include those outside Vermont or focused on individual scholarships. For more details, visit their FAQs.

The Vermont Community Action Teams (CATs) offer general or project support within the broad guidelines and funding provided by the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation. Every month, the CATs make small grants, generally under $2,000, to various local, community-based Vermont non-profit programs and community celebrations. In addition to making small grants, the CATs plan community service projects for all employees at their sites.
Applications for the Vermont Community Action Teams may be submitted at any time and are reviewed on a monthly basis.

Eligibility

Located in VermontA local, community-based, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, OR An organization that has a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) status,  OR A municipal school, or a municipality CATs fund an array of community programs located within the state of Vermont:They include:social services organizations,cultural,recreational,arts programs andcommunity celebrations.

Ineligibility

Areas not funded:
Individuals or scholarship programsOrganizations or programs that are focused or based outside the state of VermontStatewide programs or organizations (local affiliates are fine)Businesses or business associationOther foundations or regranting organizationsReligious organizations (unless they provide outreach programs that benefit the broad community)National organizationsDiscretionary or emergency requestsPrograms or purposes that may be perceived as directly benefitting a Ben & Jerry’s employee or their family members
