About The Salem Foundation Founded in May of 1930 by the Board of Pioneer Trust Bank, the Salem Foundation has a long history of serving the greater Salem community. Donors who make the Salem Foundation one of their philanthropic priorities share the common purpose of making a difference, locally. We all know that Salem will face challenges tomorrow that we cannot even begin to anticipate today. The Salem Foundation is a flexible vehicle for donors who want their giving to impact local charities and causes.  At the heart of our work is a spirit of caring and commitment to excellence. We join many community partners to help make our whole community strong and healthy. Last year alone, the Salem Foundation provided $6.1 million in grants and scholarships.
