Unsolicited Grant Program

Geographic Scope: Kentucky

Program Description: The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky accepts unsolicited grant applications to ensure organizations have an opportunity to seek support for projects that may not align with the focus or timing of other grant programs. Proposals are reviewed annually, and awards are made based on available funding and the potential of proposed projects to advance the Foundation's mission.

Focus Areas:

• Projects addressing unmet health needs of Kentuckians
• Substance-use disorder recovery and integration of civil legal services
• Mental health support and emotional regulation
• Food security and access to healthy foods
• Maternal and child health, including lactation support and infant care resources

Recent Grant Recipients (2026):

• AppalReD Legal Aid: $100,000 (Project Renew - civil legal services in substance-use disorder recovery)
• Central Kentucky Riding for Hope: ~$20,000 (Stable Foundations program - equine-assisted activities for emotional regulation)
• Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland: $50,000 (BackPack and School Pantry Programs)
• Family Health Centers Louisville: ~$49,000 (Bebé program - maternal and child health)

Eligibility:

• 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations

What They Don't Fund: Projects that don't align with the Foundation's mission

Application Status: Highly competitive; funding availability and selection not guaranteed
