United Way of Western Kentucky - Community Impact Funding

Geographic Scope: Western Kentucky, with specific focus on McCracken County

Focus Areas: Organizations must work toward one of the following predetermined community level outcomes:

  • EDUCATION

  • INCOME

  • HEALTH
  • Eligibility Requirements

    To apply for funding, agencies must be able to adhere to and provide United Way with the following:

    1. Measure Community Level Outcomes - Each program applying must work toward one of the predetermined community level outcomes defined in United Way's community impact plan
    2. Annual Audit - Independent certified public accountant examination of agency financial statements in accordance with GAAS, including opinion on financial statement presentation (most recent fiscal year)
    3. Annual Agency Budget - Current operating budget for entire agency showing projected revenue and expenses
    4. Program Budget - Current detailed budget for the specific program applying, showing projected program revenue and expenses
    5. IRS 501(c)(3) Letter - Documentation of tax-exempt status under Federal law
    6. IRS Form 990 or 990-EZ - Annual required filing by tax-exempt organizations; must match audit year and include all schedules
    7. Counter Terrorism Compliance - Agreement to comply with US Patriot Act and other counter terrorism laws
    8. Board Roster - Current list of all board members
    9. Non-Discrimination Policy - Written policy adopted by governing body stipulating that race, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin, or age will not be used in service delivery
    10. Fundraising Policy Compliance - Agreement that partner agencies may fundraise but must refrain from capital campaign kickoffs during annual United Way campaign. Restriction on payroll deductions in McCracken County workplaces
    11. Memorandum of Understanding - Defines collaborative partnership

    Funder Commitments

    • Recognize successful programs through videos, client stories, and materials
    • Promote and represent partner agencies positively in community
    • Encourage promotion via workplace publications, email, websites, campaign tools
    • Provide agency with United Way logo and signage for co-marketing
    • Promote agency needs and events on social media and Volunteer Paducah

    Partner Agency Commitments

    • Work collaboratively with United Way and partner agencies
    • Promote United Way positively in community
    • Display United Way logo on buildings where funding is used
    • Use United Way logo on primary publications for funded programs
    • Register volunteer opportunities via Volunteer Paducah
    • Provide information for promotion on social media
    • Run United Way workplace awareness campaign and offer payroll deduction
