A federal grant to assist the university with the development of off-campus study, curricular, and co- and extracurricular opportunities to expand its existing Spanish and Global Studies Programs. With an emphasis on support and promotion of linguistic and cultural diversity at GSU and the Southland community.

Program Focus: Making Spanish and Global Studies Accessible to All

As the proud recipient of DOE UISFL grants, the Spanish and Global Studies program seeks to further the GovState mission of fostering global citizenship in our thriving public square.

Accomplishments

• Facilitated the development of curriculum and resources for both students and faculty members
• Sponsored immigration speaker series
• Organized virtual movie nights with discussion panels
• Hosted peacemaking theater events
• Organized oral history and collective memory discussions
• Conducted field trips to cultural institutions
• Hosted bilingual poetry readings and cultural events
• Organized Chicago International Film Festival screenings
