TX State Wildlife Grants

The TX State Wildlife Grants program, initiated by Congress in 2000, offers essential funding to U.S. states and territories for proactive conservation efforts, aiming to prevent fish and wildlife from becoming endangered. This core initiative, supported by a diverse coalition of stakeholders, including conservationists and land developers, plays a vital role in maintaining species health and reducing listings on federal endangered species lists. The Nongame and Rare Species Program will not accept proposals for FY 2024.

In 2000, Congress created the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants (SWG) program. This program provides critical funding to every U.S. state and territory to plan and implement proactive conservation actions to prevent the nation's fish and wildlife from becoming endangered. The State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program is considered the core program for keeping species healthy and off the federal threatened and endangered species list, a goal shared by a broad constituency of conservationists, business, farmers, ranchers, and land developers.

Eligibility

A 35% non-federal match is required.Indirect costs are no longer capped at 15%.
