Overview

Twice is Nice Fund The Twice is Nice Fund at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation seeks innovative proposals from local nonprofit agencies who provide services to seniors in need. Funding Emphasis How people define aging is highly subjective. People age differently. How well one ages is influenced by many factors, some within the control of the individual and others by the set of circumstances one has from birth. Certainly, lifestyle choices affect health as do family composition, living situation, race, gender, etc. At least equally influential are such social determinants as discrimination, economic security, educational opportunities, favorable access to affordable health care, and housing. The Twice is Nice Grant Program funds programs that can empower seniors in need to live life as fully as possible while also managing the challenges that emerge later in life. TIN grants encourage new, innovative strategies and programs that support seniors in need within our community. Funding Amounts General Support Grant: Funding requests up to $15,000, though requests for lesser funding amounts are welcome. These grants will support specific programs/activities or general operations. Both new and established organizations are encouraged to apply. Innovation Grant: Funding requests up to $25,000. This Innovation Grant will support work that specifically harnesses creative thinking intended to develop a new product, system or support for seniors in need. These innovative solutions will solve caregiving challenges and enhance the well-being of seniors in the community. Partnerships between organizations are encouraged. Both new and established organizations are encouraged to apply. Criteria The Grants Committee of Twice is Nice uses the following criteria when reviewing proposals: Community Benefit – the proposed activity is responsive to an opportunity to support seniors in need in our communityLeadership – the leadership and personnel of the organization have the requisite skills and experiences to carry out the proposed activitiesCapacity and Feasibility – the organization has the programmatic approach and resources to conduct the proposed activityFinancial Stability – the organization has a balanced budget and can complete the proposed activity with the available internal and external resourcesPartnerships – the organization is aware of other organizations working on similar or related issues, and, when appropriate for achieving shared goals, has developed partnerships that are contributing to the success of the initiativeInnovation – the applicant organization is proposing new ideas and innovative ways to remove barriers for an older population

Eligibility

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, school, or fiscally-sponsored organization working to benefit the the community in the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. Organizations may submit one application per grant cycle, unless the organization is serving as a fiscal agent for another organization.

Twice is Nice does not support building or capital campaigns through its discretionary fund grant programs.
