We strive to make The Wonderful Company true to its name with a wide range of philanthropic activities that focus on investing in and collaborating with the communities where our employees live and work. Central Valley Community Grants Now, more than ever, The Wonderful Company is focused on the health and well-being of Central Valley communities. In the past 10 years, Wonderful Community Grants has funded over $8.5M across 142 nonprofits and 165 schools in the San Joaquin Valley. This year, we will be funding $1 million in grants to schools and organizations serving our priority communities. A successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to making the rural communities of the San Joaquin Valley in California a more equitable place to live, work, and play. Proposed projects must be aligned with the organization’s current mission and overall goals, and culminate into something visible and tangible in the community. Grant Amounts $1,000–$50,000 grants, awarded until funds are exhausted.Up to two $100,000 grants, awarded funds to be used over two years.

Successful Applicants Must:Demonstrate a commitment to making the rural communities of the San Joaquin Valley in California a more equitable place to live, work, and playBe a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, hospital, clinic or community health organization, local government agency, or school.Grant proposal must directly impact one of the communities in our geographic focus areasOrganizations must demonstrate impact in one or more of the following communities:Kern County: Delano, Wasco, Shafter, Lost Hills Kings County: Avenal Fresno County: Sanger, Del Rey, Firebaugh, MendotaOrganizations based outside these cities may apply as long as proposed projects can show a direct impact to one or more of these communities as a part of their grant proposal.Wonderful Community Grants will support game changing work across all impact areas.Successful applicants will demonstrate community need and yield tangible and visible results.Funds are available for program development/expansion, innovation, small scale capital improvements, technology and equipment.Program activities may include, but are not limited to:Program development and expansionCapacity-building and innovationTechnology and equipment, where the grant funds the entire purchase pricePublic education and outreachOne-time start-up costs required for the programProgrammatic events such as workshops (fundraising events are not eligible)Small-scale capital improvements where the grant funds the entire capital costReligious organizations, provided the project has a secular purpose and benefits the greater community without regard to religious affiliation.Past and current grantees are encouraged to apply.Organizations may submit up to two applications for projects directly benefiting our target communities.

Ineligibility

The Community Grants program will not fund:Political causes, organizations, candidates or campaigns; Activities influencing legislation and/or elections (501(c)4) Sponsorship for events, travel, competitions, sports teams, athletic tournaments or conferences Religious organizations, unless proposed project has a secular purpose and no religious content, benefits the greater community without regard to religious affiliation Individuals, scholarships, or tuition assistance Endowments/memorials Capital campaigns Litigation Deficits or debt reduction Organizations that discriminate against certain groups or individuals in the delivery of programs and services on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation or disability. Fundraising eventsWe prefer to not fund General Support requests through our Community Grants.
