Trees for Oklahoma Program The “Trees for Oklahoma Pine Seedling Program” is an initiative to expand pine reforestation on recently harvested land or on lands being converted to forests in designated counties throughout SE Oklahoma. The goal of the program is to help private landowners successfully plant one million pine seedlings throughout southeastern Oklahoma on an annual basis. The program is funded by Huber Engineered Woods LLC of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, to provide at no cost, seedlings to qualified landowners throughout the nine designated counties in Oklahoma contingent upon approval following the successful completion of the application process. Goal The goal of the program is to help private landowners establish up to one million pine seedlings throughout southeastern Oklahoma on an annual basis. The program’s pine seedlings are grown by the State Forest Regeneration Center from genetically improved seed produced at the Forest Tree Improvement Center in Idabel, and are provided at no cost to qualifying non-industrial private forest landowners (NIPF) in Oklahoma.Eligibility

Landowners that own land in the following counties are eligible to participate in the program: Atoka, Bryan (east half), Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, Pittsburg, and Pushmataha.Huber Engineered Woods’ program requires the following for participation: All landowners wanting to obtain free trees must have a forest management plan and/or short-term regeneration prescription written by an Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) forester.The plan must be submitted to and approved by a OFS Forester prior to seedling distribution. All plantings must:be at least five (5) acres in size,not exceed sixty (60) total acres per ownership per year, andbe intended for the successful establishment of a future timber crop. Seedlings must be distributed by the local OFS Forester, the State Forest Regeneration Center or the Forest Tree Improvement Center.The State’s standard seedling order form must be used, provided that “Huber Seedlings” is written prominently on the form and it is accompanied by an endorsement by the OFS Forester. Seedlings can be issued as part of all currently available cost-share programs in Oklahoma (e.g., FRDP), or may be planted without federal or state financial help. Seedlings must be planted by an approved tree-planting contractor, or they may be planted by the qualifying landowner provided a written silvicultural prescription is followed.A field check by the OFS Forester should be required during the planting operation. The Huber Engineered Woods requires that a copy of the Tree Planting Plan for Participating Landowners (including a tract map and/or description) is submitted to the Wood Procurement Office in Broken Bow.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
