Toby Wright Memorial Scholarship (a Kids' Chance Associate) Grant

The Toby Wright Memorial Scholarship, offered by Kids' Chance of New Mexico, supports children of workers who have been injured or killed in work-related incidents. Eligible applicants must be aged 16 to 25, demonstrate financial need, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 while enrolled in an accredited educational institution in New Mexico. The scholarship assists with tuition, books, and other educational expenses, with applications accepted each semester.

Introduction
The Workers’ Compensation Association of New Mexico Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing scholarships for children of workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a compensable work-related accident or occupational disease. Scholarships are awarded throughout the year. Students may apply every semester for which they are eligible. Scholarship amounts are determined based on the student’s financial need.

Eligibility

Student Eligibility:Between 16 and 25 years old at the time of the application.Child who is a dependent of a worker killed or seriously injured in a compensable work-related accident or occupational disease with a New Mexico employer.Demonstrated financial need to pay for post-secondary education.Accepted or already enrolled at a [university, college or technical school]. Pursuing a degree as a Full-Time student.Completion of the FAFSA – the Free Application for Federal Student Aid – for students attending a 2-year or 4-year college or university.EligibilityGPA: 2.5The applicant must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 with a minimum of 12 credit hours or better to re-apply every semester/quarter.Residence: New MexicoGrade Level: H.S. Senior, UndergradApplications can be made during a students’ high school senior year.The scholarship may cover items such as tuition, books, housing, meals or course fees.

Ineligibility

Graduate-level students are not eligible.
