Title III Grants (Older Americans Act)
Administrator: Central Minnesota Council on Aging (CMCOA)
Background: The Older Americans Act was signed into law on July 14, 1965. The original act created the Administration of Aging and authorized grants to states for community planning, services, research, and demonstration and training projects in the field of aging. Later amendments provided grants to area agencies on aging for local needs, identification, planning, and funding of services. The Act was reauthorized and amended in 2000, at which time the National Family Caregiver Support Program was established.
Geographic Scope: Central Minnesota region
Focus Areas: Title III grants support a wide array of programs and services, including:
Eligibility: Applications from providers and professionals serving older adults
Technical Assistance: CMCOA Contracts staff are available to provide technical assistance to Title III applicants. Consultation will focus on project need and design, outcomes, sustainability, budget, as well as review of draft proposals. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact amanda.schindele@cmcoa.org or laura.hoffman@cmcoa.org as early as possible to receive technical assistance.
