Overview

Our History The Community Foundation for Nantucket was founded in 2005 by a group of local residents who identified the need for an organization to support and enrich the quality of life for Nantucket’s growing community. These Founders were Peggy Gifford, Wade Green, Reggie Levine, Eileen McGrath, John Miller, Nancy Nelson, Richard Oman, Les Ottinger, and Clarissa Porter. Some of the founders had worked closely with other community foundations and knew their value. Some had first-hand experience with Nantucket’s nonprofits. Some were acutely aware of the needs of the local community. All of them cared deeply about Nantucket. ReMain Nantucket Fund ReMain’s charitable activity helps to envision and empower a prosperous future for the heart of Nantucket, tapping the Island’s extraordinary resources: its people and strong tradition of independence, innovation, and conservation. The ReMain Nantucket Fund is looking for applications that meet one of the following: Enhance Nantucket’s Downtown – Program GrantsBoost Cultural Activity in the Downtown Nonprofit / Public PartnershipsEncourage Better Leaders and Organizations – Professional Development Grants Leadership & Governance Finance Management Fund-raising Expertise Strategic Planning Feasibility StudiesSupport Environmental Sustainability – Project GrantsGreen or Sustainable Projects such as LED lighting, alternative power initiatives, and other innovative technology. Resources for feasibility studies or planning for critical, sustainable projects, including for sea-level rise or other property management changes due to climate change. The Foundation will award grants only to organizations that have met all the deadlines for project reporting, follow up and accountability for any previous grants from the Foundation.
