The Pattis Family Foundation Summer Leadership Program

Overview
Women Employed's paid summer internship provides professional skill building and practical experience through leadership training, front-line research, and exposure to barriers experienced by low-paid workers. The program introduces current college students to nonprofit work through workshops, guest speakers, and hands-on projects.- Dates: June 8 - July 29, 2026 (schedule varies by year)
- Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Format: Hybrid with minimum of four required in-person days
Program Duration
- Facilitating issue-based discussions with staff and interns
- Designing and implementing public information and awareness campaigns on Women Employed issues
- Conducting research and outreach on issues relevant to low-wage women
- Conducting interviews and assisting with program work
Project Work Areas
- Become familiar with the history and future of the women's movement
- Participate in professional development workshops on effective advocacy
- Learn about nonprofit organizational development and communications
- Explore aspects of social justice work with guest speakers
Learning Outcomes
Interns will:- Academic Standing: Sophomore (or above) at community college OR Junior (or above) at four-year institution. Graduate students not considered.
- Location: Permanent address in Illinois OR currently live and study in Illinois
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States (WE does not sponsor visas)
- Availability: Available June 8 - July 29 (full-time commitment)
Eligibility Requirements
- Stipend: $3,000
- Transportation Support: Small transportation stipend provided
- Technology: Interns must have access to reliable computer and internet connection
