Note: The Directors invite proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations located in Oklahoma. An online grant application summarizing the need for funding must be submitted. The Directors will meet and review all grant applications received by the deadline and will notify each applicant of their granting decisions. The Harris Foundation Foundation History Vernon V. Harris came from Kentucky to Oklahoma Territory where he began to fulfill his vision that all Americans should be responsible public citizens. In 1938 he founded the Harris Foundation, a philanthropic foundation that provides grants to religious, charitable, educational, benevolent, or scientific institutions and organizations. The imprint of V.V. Harris still can be seen throughout Oklahoma and today his legacy is continued by members of his family who serve on the Foundation’s board. Mission Statement To establish and promote, encourage, strengthen, assist, and maintain religious, charitable, education, benevolent, or scientific institutions and organizations within the state of Oklahoma.
