The Fund for Taos - COVID-19 Response Grants

Geographic Scope: Taos and western Colfax Counties, New Mexico

Emergency action fund created to support local nonprofits responding to COVID-19 and its effects. As of December 1, 2020, the Fund for Taos had awarded nearly 80 grants totaling $552,000 to local organizations.

Program Phases:

Phase 1 (March - July 2020): Rapid-relief grants

• $249,700 deployed to organizations on front lines of pandemic
• Focus: Basic needs (food, shelter, access to care, etc.)

Phase 2 (August 2020 onwards): Strategic grant applications with focus areas:

• Education
• Food Systems
• Art & Culture
• Behavioral Health
• Nonprofit Support
• Housing

Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations directly responding to COVID-19 consequences through creative and collaborative solutions

Focus: Organizations pivoting programmatic work and organizational management to enhance existing programming or develop new programming addressing pandemic-related demands

Total Grantmaking: Over $1.1 million in relief aid distributed by Foundation (including direct relief beyond this fund)
