The Catalyst Fund

Purpose: Awards annual grants to build the internal capacity of member orchestras based in the U.S. in advancing their understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and in encouraging effective practice.

Geographic Scope: United States only

Focus Areas:

• Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) capacity building
• Organizational culture change related to EDI and anti-racism work
• Engaging EDI consultants to help orchestras create and implement strategies

Eligibility:

• League member orchestras based in the U.S.
• Must be positioned to engage EDI consultants

What the Grants Support:

• Engagement of EDI consultants to help orchestras create and implement strategies relevant to their own orchestras and communities
• Internal capacity building in EDI understanding and practice

Background: Consultants can help orchestras clarify, map, and measure EDI goals; offer perspective on progress compared to peers; provide advice on avoiding common pitfalls; assist in mediating conflict on EDI approaches and strategy; and highlight and center marginalized voices and views.
