Texas Solar for All Coalition EPA Grant

A historic federal grant awarded to the Texas Solar for All Coalition to deliver residential solar to more than 46,000 low-income and disadvantaged communities and households across Texas.

Geographic Scope: Texas (statewide, serving over 11 million low-income and disadvantaged communities)

Focus Areas:

• Residential solar installation for low-income households
• Solar equity and gap closure
• Battery storage systems
• Energy efficiency improvements
• Workforce training and development
• Support for minority- and women-owned businesses
• Community-based organization collaboration
• Green job creation

Project Goals:

• Deliver approximately 225 MW of distributed solar facilities
• Install 85 MWh of battery storage
• Provide average of $17 million in annual household electricity bill savings
• Reduce statewide emissions by over 310 thousand tons/year
• Achieve at least 20% savings on customer electricity bills in targeted communities

Eligibility:

• Low-income and disadvantaged residential communities
• Multifamily properties
• Single-family homes
• Cities, counties, and community-based organizations serving eligible populations

Coalition Leadership: Harris County leads the coalition, including multiple cities, counties, and community-based organizations

Project Duration: Five years

Background: Part of President Biden's $7 billion in federal grants for residential solar projects announced on Earth Day 2024. 60 recipients nationwide (49 states, six Tribes, and five multistate awards) were chosen to provide solar to nearly 1 million households in low- and middle-income communities across the country.
