Seed Project Foundation General Grants

Annual grant program administered by the Seed Project Foundation to support North Texas schools and nonprofits that embrace sustainability and align with the foundation's mission of creating a more sustainable future.

Focus Areas

• Sustainable food systems
• Local farming and agriculture
• Environmental conservation and restoration
• Food security and pantries
• Employment and training programs for underserved populations
• School gardens and agricultural education
• Local food marketing and education

Eligibility

• North Texas schools or nonprofits
• Must embrace sustainability mission
• No disqualification from receiving grants in successive years
• Qualify for board presentation review

Application Timeline

• Application Period: October 1 - December 31 (annually)
• Board Review: Early January (qualifying applicants invited for brief presentations to Board on January 14-15)
• Award Ceremony: January 30

Background

As of 2020, the foundation had awarded grants to six organizations including Empty Bowls McKinney, Hugs Cafe, Connemara Conservancy, Grow North Texas, Good Local Markets, and Blue Sky Therapeutic Riding and Respite.

Grant Application Process

1. Review Eligibility Requirements - Confirm your organization meets all qualifications
2. Complete Application Form - Fill out the official application
3. Submit by Deadline - Applications must be received by midnight on December 31st
4. Board Review - Qualifying applicants will be contacted in early January to make a brief presentation to the Board on January 14th or 15th
5. Award Decision - Grants will be awarded by check in a ceremony on January 30th
