Texas Education Agency The Texas Education Agency is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The Texas Education Agency improves outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) administers federal and state grant awards to its subgrantees to carry out a program. Such entities include primarily school systems (referred to as local educational agencies [LEAs] in statutes), including independent school districts and charter schools; education service centers (ESCs); and, to a lesser degree, institutions of higher education (IHEs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), and other statutorily allowable organizations. Texas Education for Homeless Children and Youth (TEHCY) Resource Grant Program Description This grant will implement high-quality, innovative, and evidence-based practices that deliver resources and strategies to identify, enroll, and support students experiencing homelessness. These efforts will increase access to services and improved academic outcomes for all Texas students. This grant will strengthen the implementation of the Texas Education for Homeless Children and Youth (TEHCY) program through the development of strengthened regional capacity of tools, trainings, and resources through strategic support, guidance, and practical assistance for Education Service Centers (ESCs) and School Systems. Through this grant, Texas will achieve: Enhanced cohesion & alignment with state strategies and McKinney-Vento requirements.Expanded regional capacity via ESC McKinney-Vento liaison support and best practice implementation.Improved student outcomes through targeted interventions, progress monitoring, and family engagement tools. This grant will strengthen statewide infrastructure by increasing cohesion, coordination, and alignment of ESC regional TEHCY programs with state strategies. Regions will expand the use of best practices for identification, enrollment, progress monitoring, interventions, and comprehensive support—ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.Eligibility
