Texas Bar Foundation General Grants Program

Mission: The Texas Bar Foundation solicits charitable contributions and provides funding to enhance the rule of law and the system of justice in Texas, especially for programs that relate to legal assistance for the underserved, the administration of justice, ethics in the legal profession, the encouragement of legal research, publications and forums, and education of the third branch of government.

  • Does NOT make grants to individuals

  • The Board of Trustees makes all grant decisions and reserves the right to defer any application to a later grant cycle

    Application Process

    Online Application Portal:

  • You must create an online account in the grants portal in order to apply

  • Applications are submitted through the online portal only

  • Access to online applications will close at 5:00 p.m. central time on the deadline date, even if the deadline is a weekend or holiday

  • Any online application not submitted by the deadline will be removed from the system upon close
  • Deadlines:

  • Spring Cycle: January 15, 5:00 p.m. central time (notification of awards in late April)

  • Fall Cycle: July 15, 5:00 p.m. central time (notification of awards in late October)
  • How to Get Started:
    1. Visit the grants portal to preview the application and review qualifications before creating an account
    2. Click the preview button at the bottom left corner of the screen to view the application
    3. Create your online account if your organization meets eligibility requirements
    4. Submit your application before 5:00 p.m. central time on the deadline date
