Overview: Grants to support innovative teaching projects and classroom initiatives for teachers and professionals at Michigan City High School and La Porte County Career and Technical Education – A.K. Smith Center.

  • 2013: $2,542 awarded (double from previous year)

  • In 2013, received 13 applications
  • Background: Permanent endowment fund started in 2012 by Michigan City Mayor Chuck Oberlie and Michigan City Area Schools Superintendent Barbara Eason-Watkins. Goal is to build fund to $100,000. As of 2013, fund had received $20,000 gift from Horizon Bank and $16,125 from 25 other donors.
