Overview: MPS site-grants fund projects, equipment, and experiences above and beyond normal resources. These provide meaningful moments of learning and an enhanced environment where students can thrive.

Eligibility:

  • Teachers in Miami Public Schools

  • Projects should enrich education and skills for students

  • Can be for individual classrooms, full grade teacher partnerships, or school-wide benefit

  • Background: The Foundation Board awards grants on an annual basis to teachers who meet enrichment and innovation requirements. Grant history shows awards have been made across multiple subject areas including Science, Reading, Technology, Math, History/Social Science, Counseling, Music, Art, Health, ELL Language, English, and Physical Education. Historical awards have ranged from small amounts to several thousand dollars.

    Application Process

    Submission Requirements:
    1. Complete grant application form (2-page form preferred)
    2. Answer all sections of the application
    3. For technology-related grants: obtain approval from IET (Information & Educational Technology) before submission
    4. Include picture/visual if possible
    5. Submit to principal on or before deadline

    Key Application Tips:

  • Figure out what you want/need in your classroom that will supplement and enrich curriculum

  • Ask: Will it stimulate and challenge students?

  • Read the MPSEF Goals

  • Read entire grant application with attention to all requirements

  • Follow all directions carefully

  • Complete rough draft first, answering all sections

  • Use clear, professional descriptions (consider using catalog language)

  • Write for evaluators who may not understand educational jargon

  • Fit completed grant on 2 pages provided

  • Attach a picture when possible

  • Have someone else review for clarity

  • Clearly state what you are asking for and how it will support students' highest level of achievement

  • Ensure final draft is edited before submitting to principal
