Sustainability Science Award for Scholarly Work

Purpose: Given to the authors of a scholarly work that makes the greatest contribution to the emerging science of ecosystem and regional sustainability through the integration of ecological and social sciences.

Eligibility:

  • Single scholarly contribution (book, book chapter, or peer-reviewed journal article)

  • Published in the last five years

  • If a publisher nominates a book, it must be accompanied by other non-publisher nominations (i.e., academics and/or practitioners)
  • Award includes:

  • $700 travel award (for 1st author)

  • Plaques for each author
  • Background: Introduced in 2004. Addresses one of humanity's most pressing challenges: sustainability of important ecological, social, and cultural processes in face of changes in forces that shape ecosystems and regions.

    Application Process

    Required Materials:

  • Nomination letter (not to exceed 2 pages)

  • One required letter of support (not to exceed 2 pages)

  • No more than two additional letters of support (each not to exceed 2 pages)

  • Electronic copy of the publication
  • Submission: All submissions must be submitted through the online awards submission site.
