Sunny Bug Farmette Fund

Background: This annual scholarship fund was established in 2025 by Orvin & Donna Baker-Breningstall in honor and memory of their daughter Sunia Baker-Breningstall, an artist and passionate advocate for nature and gardening.

Geographic Scope: Denver, Colorado

Focus Areas:

• Youth education programming (Seed to Plate) for children with developmental and adaptive differences
• Food Ethos Denver (FED) Workshops for adults of all abilities
• Inclusive services and accessibility for individuals with diverse backgrounds and abilities

What They Fund:

• Seed to Plate classes in schools serving youth with developmental & adaptive differences
• ADA accommodations and accessibility services for FED Workshops
• Translation services and sign language interpreters for FED Workshops
• Expanding FED Workshop programming to promote deeper inclusivity

Schools Currently Served (2025):

• Rocky Mountain Prep (SMART High school students)
• Kepner Beacon Middle School
• Northeast Early College (students 18-21 in transitional programs)
• South High School ($5,000 grant awarded for three 6-week terms)

Application Process

For Scholarship Recipients:

1. Fill out the scholarship application form (link provided on website)
2. Indicate interest in receiving a scholarship to a specific FED class, OR request to be included on a list for future classes
