Overview

Note: Funding will be awarded twice a year, with application due dates of April 1 and October 1 each year. The April deadline will fund grants for conferences taking place after April of the same calendar year. The October deadline will fund grants for conferences taking place in the following calendar year. STP Mission Statement (STP membership approved the most recent revision, January 10, 2021) The Society for the Teaching of Psychology promotes excellence in the teaching and learning of psychology. The Society provides resources and services, access to a global collaborative community, and opportunities for professional development. It endeavors to promote equity and social justice for teachers and students of psychology with marginalized, racially minoritized, and intersecting identities. The Society also strives to advance the scholarship of teaching and learning; advocate for the needs of teachers of psychology; promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the teaching and learning of psychology; foster partnerships across academic settings; and increase recognition of the value of the teaching profession. Early Career Travel Grant Program This grant program provides funding to defray the costs of attending psychology teaching conferences or conferences with a significant teaching of psychology component. We will fund approximately 5 grants, with a maximum award of $1000 per grant, The average funding rate of applicants since tracking began in 2012 is 75%. The majority of funded applications have received full funding, but some applications have received partial funding.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Grant recipients must be an STP member and an Early Career Psychologist. STP defines early career as a member who is within 10 years of beginning teaching psychology and who is not a student.Applications will be evaluated on the degree to which the applicant demonstrates that the proposed conference attendance can improve the applicant’s teaching of psychology.Attendance of regional conference is encouraged (but not required).Travel must occur after funding has been awarded.Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, STP encourages applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences.STP members who meet the criteria for Early Career Psychology are encouraged to apply!
