Stew Tweed Fisheries and Aquaculture Scholarship

Program Description: Annual scholarships awarded to students pursuing studies or an outstanding research or technology project focusing on fisheries or aquaculture.

Established: 2007 in honor of Stew Tweed, a former 27-year veteran of NJSGC's marine advisory program

Geographic Scope: New Jersey (preference)

Award Categories:

• High School: One scholarship of $1,500 for a graduating high school senior
• Undergraduate/Graduate: One scholarship of $2,000 for an undergraduate or graduate student

Eligibility:

• New Jersey students (preference)
• Pursuing studies or outstanding research/technology project in fisheries or aquaculture
• Graduating high school seniors OR undergraduate/graduate students

Selection Criteria:

• Quality of application
• Demonstration of passion for science-based research application
• Commitment to outreach activities in fisheries/aquaculture

Purpose: Support students dedicating themselves to the science of fisheries and aquaculture to support sustainability of state's seafood supply
