STEPS Counseling Program

Overview: A comprehensive Christian personal transformation program designed to help participants experience the richness of the Gospel through self-examination and spiritual growth. This is NOT a training program to become a counselor, but rather a program for personal spiritual development.

Geographic Scope: Japan

Program Structure:

  • 13 Main Sessions (13回のメインセッション)

  • 13 Mentoring Sessions (~1-2 hours each)

  • Prayer Small Groups (祈りのスモールグループ)

  • Daily Devotions (毎日のデボーション)

  • Personal Assessment (自身の心を深くさぐるアセスメント)
  • What's Included: ¥30,000 covers all program costs including textbooks, shipping, and mentoring fees (プログラムすべての費用です(上記料金にはテキスト代、送料、メンタリング代が含まれています))

    Eligibility:

  • Christian believers seeking to deepen their spiritual understanding and experience Gospel transformation

  • Requires commitment to attend all 13 main sessions and small groups (or watch recorded sessions if unavoidable)

  • Requires attendance at all 13 mentoring sessions (approximately 1-2 hours each)

  • Must commit to daily devotions and honest completion of assessment forms

  • Requires notification and consent from your church pastor

  • Mentors are not professional counselors but trained Christian leaders and pastors who have previously completed STEPS
  • Important Notes:

  • This program does NOT use medical/therapeutic counseling techniques

  • Mentors are lay Christians, leaders, or pastors—not professional counselors

  • Confidentiality is required; information shared is not disclosed to third parties

  • Limited participant capacity; applications may be rejected if capacity is exceeded

  • Scholarships available for theological students and church workers with financial difficulty
  • Application Period: Applications open June 1, 2025; deadline July 21, 2025
    Note: 2025 STEPS applications are now closed; registration for 2026 expected to open June 1, 2026

    Application Process

    1. Review confirmation items - Read and affirm all program requirements and commitments listed on the application page
    2. Complete registration form - Fill out all required information in the online application form
    3. Affirm all conditions - You must agree to all items before submitting, including:
    - Attending all 13 main sessions and small groups (or watching recordings if necessary)
    - Attending all 13 mentoring sessions
    - Completing daily devotions and assessment forms sincerely
    - Maintaining confidentiality of information shared
    - Informing your church pastor of your participation
    - Understanding the program limitations and mentor qualifications
    4. Submit application - Complete online form submission
    5. Confirmation - Confirmation message displays at top of page upon successful submission; confirmation email sent from "forms-receipts-noreply@google.com"
    6. Participation notification - If accepted, you will receive participation confirmation email
    7. Payment - Make payment via bank transfer only after receiving participation confirmation email
