Overview: Scholarship for high school seniors planning to study agribusiness at college or university.

Geographic Scope: Steele County, Minnesota

Focus Areas: Agribusiness academic studies

Eligibility:

  • Any senior graduating from a high school located in Steele County, Minnesota

  • Must plan to study agribusiness at a college or university

  • Must have taken at least two agriculture classes in high school
  • Selection Criteria:

      Academic Merit

    • Evidence of high academic achievement relevant to agribusiness coursework
    • At least two agriculture classes completed
    • Clear, logical writing with high-order thinking skills
    • No grammatical errors in application
    • Strong letters of recommendation support

      Leadership Successes and Potential

    • Demonstrates integrity, service, and honesty
    • Success in leadership positions
    • Courage of conviction and determination
    • Participation in extra-curricular activities, including FFA
    • Letters of recommendation support leadership potential

      Ambassadorial Potential

    • Ability to build relationships outside peer group
    • Understanding of agribusiness's role in society
    • Demonstrates appreciation for sound scientific agricultural practices
    • Support documented in letters of recommendation

    Application Process

    1. Prepare Application Materials:
    - Two-page summary including:
    - Academic qualifications
    - Leadership roles
    - Planned college academic goals
    - Post-college aspirations
    - Attach official transcript
    - Include student contact information (address and phone number)

    2. Letters of Recommendation:
    - Two letters required
    - One must be from high school agriculture education teacher

    3. Submit to School:
    - Submit to high school agriculture instructor or counseling department
    - School deadline: April 25th

    4. School Endorsement and Submission:
    - Each school emails the best student application (endorsed by school administrator) to 761 Foundation Board

    5. Selection and Announcement:
    - Applications reviewed by 761 Foundation board
    - Selected applicant announced after May 15th
