Mission: Support women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals who have struggled severely throughout the pandemic and the ongoing fight for racial and gender justice.

    Background

    Women, girls, and gender-expansive youth of color in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas face disproportionate safety concerns:
  • Girls 16-19 are 4 times more likely to be victim-survivors of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault than the general population
  • In DC, 50% of women have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner
  • 39% of DC women have experienced sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner
  • During the pandemic, agencies saw increased need with insufficient resources
