Staff Development Scholarship

Geographic Scope: Fairfax County and City of Fairfax, VA

Award Amount: Up to $1,500 per award

Eligibility:

  • Current employees and volunteers of the Fairfax County Public Library

  • Current employees and volunteers of the Fairfax Library Foundation

  • Members of any Fairfax County Friends of the Library group

    • Purpose: Advance funding or reimbursement for registration costs, lodging, meals, and travel-related expenses to attend:

  • Seminars

  • Conferences

  • Lectures

  • Workshops

  • Adult education classes

  • Certificate programs

  • College and university classes (when not enrolled in a formal degree program)

    • Evaluation Criteria:

  • Value of the event to the growth and development of the individual's knowledge and skills

  • Support of library goals and objectives

  • Length of employment and/or volunteer service

  • Potential for future work and/or volunteer service in the Library or Foundation

    • Program History: Since June 2002, 249 awards have been granted totaling $97,595.41
