St. Patrick Centre Young Ambassador Program

Overview:
A partnership between the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America and the Saint Patrick Centre in County Down, Northern Ireland. The program creates a network of informed and influential young individuals with specialist knowledge and meaningful links to Northern Ireland.

Program Details:

• Location: Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland
• Duration: First two weeks in June (Note: 2023 dates mentioned; check for 2026 dates)
• Participants: Three or more young AOH members selected as "Young Ambassadors"
• Program History: The Saint Patrick Centre program has been running for 16 years
• Capacity: Hosts young people from all over America

Program Components:

• Work placements and experiences to enhance career prospects
• Exposure to contemporary and historical Irish social and cultural aspects
• Study of community reconciliation models relevant to North American cities
• Networking and relationship-building with Ireland and the AOH

Eligibility:

• Young member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America
• Must have valid AOH membership number

Goals:

• Develop AOH Young Ambassadors with deep knowledge and love of Ireland
• Strengthen AOH organization, particularly among younger members
• Develop future AOH leaders
• Create meaningful and ongoing relationships between participants and Ireland
• Enable participants to represent Ireland appropriately throughout their lives
