Sportsmen Against Hunger

Geographic Scope: North Dakota statewide

Program Focus:
Bringing together generous hunters willing to donate game meat with families who can benefit from no-cost, nutritious protein sources. Organizes the donation of legally obtained wild game to food pantries across North Dakota.

Purpose:
Food pantries continue to be in need of healthy sources of protein, particularly fresh/frozen meat. Perishable items are often the least donated, yet they are the most needed to prepare healthy, balanced meals.

What is Accepted:

  • Legally obtained wild game meat

  • Fresh/frozen meat donations
  • What is NOT Accepted:

  • Waterfowl (geese and other waterfowl not accepted)
  • Funding Model:

  • Relies on donations and grant funding to pay for processing of donated game

  • Donations welcome for processing costs

  • Many hunting groups across the state support and contribute to the program
  • Participation:

  • For Hunters: Donate legally obtained game

  • For Meat Processors: Become an approved SAH processor

  • For Donors: Support processing costs via online donations
