Geographic Scope: Puget Sound area, Washington (members of Sound Credit Union)

Purpose: To support Sound Credit Union members pursuing higher education by alleviating financial burdens associated with college/university attendance.

Award Amount: Approximately $20,000 distributed annually among recipients (in 2025, $20,000 was awarded to 13 recipients)

Eligibility:

Must be a Sound Credit Union member

Pursuing higher education at a college or university

May include graduating high school students or adults continuing their education

Selected based on:

- Academic achievements
- Community involvement
- Commitment/dedication to furthering their education

Selection Process:

Applications are reviewed by Sound Credit Union team members

Reviewers assess student journeys, dreams, and aspirations

13 recipients were selected in 2024 and 2025

Sound Credit Union has been serving the Puget Sound community since 1940

One of Washington State's largest credit unions with 26 full-service branch locations

Serves over 175,000 members

Provides scholarships as part of their mission to stand with members, employees, and community through all stages of life

Recent recipients (2025/26 academic year) attended: Washington State University, University of the Pacific, Arizona State University, Utah Valley University, Coe College, University of Washington, Pierce College, Pacific Lutheran University, Gonzaga University, Northwest University, and others
