Funder: Tulsa Area United Way (TAUW)

Purpose
The Social Innovations Grant encourages support of new solutions for expanding education, improving health and safety, and strengthening financial mobility. The program is designed to provide nonprofits with critical resources—including funding, mentorship, and community connections—to accelerate the growth and stability of innovative programs.- Organization Type: 501(c)(3) nonprofit or currently sponsored by a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) status
- Service Area: The majority of clients benefited by the proposal must be located within the six-county TAUW service area
- Innovation Requirement: Proposal must be innovative, meaning it is a new solution to a gap, barrier, or challenge faced by the organization or community served
- Focus Area: Innovative idea must impact one of TAUW's four key focus areas
Eligibility Requirements
- Annual operating budgets under $2 million
- Proposals addressing significant inequities or disparities within the focus area
- Clear articulation of what the organization hopes to learn and how learnings benefit the larger community
- Leadership (staff, board) with lived experiences resonating with the work or clients identified
Priority Areas
TAUW prioritizes applications with:- Expenses incurred prior to 2026
- Supplanting other funds
- Capital campaigns, endowment campaigns, or fundraising events
- Land purchase, construction of new facilities, or renovation of existing facilities
- Bulk use for decorating facilities
Non-Allowable Expenses
- Five organizations receive $40,000 financial awards
- Award may be used in one year (2026) or divided across two years (2026-2027)
- Grantees have opportunity to pitch for additional Audience Choice Awards
- Grantees participate in TAUW-sponsored trainings throughout 2026

How to Apply
Application Process
The Social Innovations Grant application is a multi-step competitive process:
#### Step 1: Mini-Application
1. Complete the mini-application form (available in English and Spanish)
2. Submit by Thursday, July 31, 2026 via the online Mini-Application portal
3. Prepare answers in advance before using the application link
#### Step 2: Full Application
1. A select number of applicants chosen from mini-applications will be invited to complete a lengthier application
2. Full application includes additional questions from the Innovation Committee
#### Step 3: Award Selection & Pitch Event
1. Award winners are chosen from full applications
2. Winners invited to participate in public event to share ideas
3. Opportunity to compete for additional Audience Choice Awards
