Smart Garden Products Student Scholarship Smart Garden Products are a leading supplier of garden products to the garden retail trade. The company has built up an enviable reputation for design and innovation in solar-powered consumer products under the brands Smart Solar and Super Bright. They have a diverse international customer base encompassing the UK and continental Europe. Their Head Office and showroom is in Abingdon, Oxfordshire with a warehouse hub in Peterborough. They are very committed to introducing a substantive range of new products every year, along with eye-catching packaging, point of sale, and merchandising. They recognize the importance of their customers – garden centers – having access to well-qualified, skilled employees and as such, are delighted to be supporting the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation by sponsoring the Student Scholarships. Successful applicants be included in a visit one of Smart Garden’s premises for a training and development day, where they will meet senior staff and see the business at work. Student scholarships were the very origins of the support the Foundation wanted to provide to students. Those currently studying horticultural-based subjects at any recognized college or university in the UK or Ireland are eligible to apply. These could include modern apprenticeship-type courses as well as correspondence and block-release learning. These scholarships are open to all students undertaking a horticulture-related course at a recognized college in the UK. Student applicants must be attending, or enrolled to attend college, university, or a similar educational establishment on a full or part-time basis with a view to seeking permanent full-time employment in a commercial horticultural business on completion of their course. These could include modern apprenticeship-type courses as well as correspondence and block-release learning. Important Information About This Award Should you be successful, as part of a condition of your acceptance of the award, you will be required to attend a training and development day at one of Smart Garden Products' premises. Here you will have the opportunity to learn from experts in different fields associated with running a successful business, including logistics, marketing, and product development. This specially arranged day will also give you the chance to meet and network with other students awarded a Smart Garden Student Scholarship. Please read all the notes on this award and the application form before applying. Please answer all of the questions, providing as much detail as you can. Particularly for those students who are doing an apprenticeship-based course, details of your current employment, and any previous, will be particularly important along with your aims and ambitions post gaining your qualification. Remember, the better your application, the better your chance of gaining a scholarship.

As a general rule, preference will be given to applicants who meet the following criteria:Reasonable use for scholarship funds, for example, course fees, educational resources, and travel expenses associated with study or study tours. Focus of studies on ornamental horticulture, especially with an emphasis on the bedding, container, pot plant and cut flower sectors. Seeking to make a career in the field of commercial or production ornamental horticulture. Show demonstrable talent, as evidenced by grades achieved and by tutors’ assessments.Financial need will also be taken into account.
