Mission Statement The American Respiratory Care Foundation is dedicated to promoting respiratory health through the support of research, education, and patient-focused philanthropic activities in respiratory care. Research Grants Research funds are available to qualified investigators in the field of respiratory care. Smallwood Young Investigator Fellowship This fellowship is supported by colleagues and an endowment to the American Respiratory Care Foundation and designed to provide the awardee with experiences, mentoring and funds to those serious about becoming mature investigators. Funding Funding will be provided to applicant employer or university as a grant. The money can be used to support the personal and professional growth of the individual young investigator. The SYIF committee envisioned the majority of the funds would be used to connect and find mentors, obtain some hands-on experience, and supply small equipment or supplies to help start the first project. This award is generally limited to $5,000; these funds are designed to supplement other forms of support of the investigator.
