Seneca Foods Foundation Since 1988 the Seneca Foods Foundation has been committed to philanthropic initiatives in our communities. This is a private, not-for-profit corporation that focuses on helping to prepare and empower our young people by giving them the tools they need to become independent and contributing members of their communities. We sponsor community assistance programs with specific focus on higher education, supporting our troops, and providing internships. Our Focus Our Foundation focuses primarily on supporting the communities in which we operate as well as supporting causes of significance to our employees and other constituents of Seneca Foods Corporation. Our Scope Priority consideration for funding is given to organizations and programs: with Seneca employee or retiree connections;that are geographically located within or have close proximity to a community where Seneca operates a facility or has substantial presence; that support activities and efforts that align with Seneca’s mission and vision; Requests that do not fall into the Scope may also be considered pending current funding budgets, eligibility, and funding category relevance. To Qualify For FundingIn order to qualify for funding, the entity must be a not-for-profit corporation, foundation, agency, organization, institution, fund, trust or community chest that has been established, organized and is operating exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, cultural or educational purposes as specified in Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law), or by otherwise engaging in activities or making expenditures in furtherance of such purposes.The Foundation only considers one request per organization per year.Grantmaking is only done in communities in which Seneca has a business presence, with locations found here.We are only making grants to organizations with documented performance results. Measurable performance outcomes and performance data must accompany the proposal to be eligible for funding.Proposals must provide substantive evaluation data.

Ineligibility

The Foundation will not consider applications outside our focus area.Typically not funded:Arts,recreation, andmedical care programs.In general, it is the policy of the Foundation not to fund the following:Organizations that are not tax-exempt under paragraph 501(c) (3) of the United States Internal Revenue Service Code; Programs of religious denominations or sects except when they provide needed services to the community at large; Direct grants to individuals, including requests for travel and related expenses, education, medical, political campaign, public office, etc. Propaganda or lobbying efforts to influence legislation
