Overview

Since 1983, the Community Foundation has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships from 136 funds established by generous individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits to help area students pursue an education and establish rewarding careers. Sean Duzant Memorial Scholarship Established in memory of Sean Duzant, who passed away unexpectedly in 2004 at the age of 27 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Sean graduated from New London High School and Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and went on to work as a lab technician at Pfizer. He was an exceptionally gifted athlete and excelled as a soccer player. He played Division One soccer for CCSU and went on to play semi-pro with the Connecticut Wolves of the US “A” League. From a very young age Sean had a passion for fishing. He obtained his Captain’s License and was planning to start his own fishing charter business. Scholarship awards are paid to colleges by August 1.
