SDYC Junior Program Grants

Funder: San Diego Yacht Club Sailing Foundation

Geographic Scope: San Diego area and San Diego County

Mission Focus: Support talented youth to compete effectively in sailing through financial and organizational support for junior sailing programs.

    Program Components (2024 Awards):

  • School Sailing Teams: $13,000 distributed to 7 active San Diego area high school teams (Cathedral Catholic, Coronado, Del Norte, La Jolla, Francis Parker, Pt Loma, Torrey Pines)
  • High School Nationals Support: $6,000 for San Diego county teams competing in Doublehanded, Team Race, and Singlehanded events
  • Collegiate Sailing Teams: $4,000 to 2 active San Diego area collegiate teams (SDSU, UCSD)
  • Youth Development Programs: Including SODA Youth Match Racing Clinic ($2,500), Sea Scout Ship 1886 ($3,500), USCG Learn to Sail Program ($5,000), Warrior Sailing Program ($3,600), INSA Sabot Dutch Shoe Marathon ($1,000)
  • Total 2024 Awards: $120,000 to SDYC Junior Program + $39,600 to other sailing initiatives

    Eligibility:

  • Active school and collegiate sailing teams in San Diego area
  • Youth sailors competing in regional and national competitions
  • Programs supporting maritime skills training
