Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (BIPI) is committed to supporting innovative, high quality projects and programs that advance knowledge and understanding of basic, preclinical, clinical, and/or outcomes to further scientific awareness and technologies for public health and welfare in BIPI’s therapeutic areas of interest.
Boehringer Ingelheim may be involved in the creation of the materials or activities (e.g. consortia, providing suggestions or feedback) but cannot disproportionately influence outcomes or hold the funding recipient accountable for achieving a specific outcome, and the funding recipient must retain control of the goals, activities, messaging and dissemination of knowledge.
SAGs may include third-party research award programs (e.g. a professional society selected young investigator research grant), or external coalitions in which an activity or project is undertaken by Boehringer Ingelheim along with one or more external organizations (either for-profit or not-for-profit) that advance specific and discrete shared policy or disease awareness objectives.

* Foster clinician and patient education through collaborative initiatives including (but not limited to) scientific research, medical roundtable discussions and working groups for chronic auto-immune diseases.
* CardioMetabolic
* Foster cardio-renal-metabolism disease education for clinicians through collaborative initiatives including (but not limited to) scientific research, medical roundtable discussions and working groups.
* CNS
* Foster central nervous system disease state education for clinicians and patients through collaborative initiatives including (but not limited to) scientific research, medical roundtable discussions and working groups.
* Immunology/Dermatology
* Fostering ongoing clinician and patient immune-mediated disease state education through collaborative initiatives including (but not limited to) scientific research, medical roundtable discussions and working groups.
* Fibrosing ILDs
* Fostering ongoing Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) scientific and patient disease state education through collaborative initiatives including, but not limited to, scientific research, medical roundtable discussions, and working groups.
* Oncology
* Support scientific or patient initiatives in oncology that seek to improve the understanding of disease, patient care, or more broadly serve to elevate oncology medical practice through basic research, round table discussions, education and working groups.

* BIPI will consider requests from the following:
* Independent medical education providers
* Hospitals or community health centers
* Academic medical centers and medical universities
* Professional medical associations/societies
* Managed care organizations
* Patient advocacy organizations
* Education or meeting management companies
Ineligibility
* Proposals in the following areas are currently not being considered:
* Respiratory
* Examples of requests that will not be considered:
* Projects or programs that directly influence or advance BIPI’s commercial or marketing business, including the purchase, utilization, prescribing, formulary position, pricing, reimbursement, referral or recommendation of or payment for its products
* Programs that are out of scope, such as those that support a religious purpose, fraternal or labor activities, or advocacy or lobbying activities directed towards specific legislation
* Capital campaigns, building funds, or operating expenses that are not directly and exclusively dedicated to the educational activity being applied for (e.g. equipment, salaries, benefits, journal subscriptions, etc.)
* Requests received outside of our required timelines/deadlines, including retroactive support
* Requests for programs that take place in a location, venue, or in a schedule that detracts from the educational activity as the primary purpose, such as those held in resorts or other lavish venues or locations
* Requests for basic or clinical research projects, including Investigator-initiated studies, epidemiological studies, clinical trials, or other pharmaceutical studies
* Requests for the purpose of developing testing or treatment recommendations, e.g., statements that include specific tests, products, or classes of products intended to help practitioners make diagnostic or prescribing decisions for specific clinical conditions
* Requests that include unacceptable budget line items, such as:
* Faculty lodging and/or expense reimbursement that is not commensurate with the time spent as faculty
* Travel, lodging or registration expenses for non-faculty healthcare professionals to attend an educational program
* Gifts/prizes for faculty or attendees
* Requests for food only
* Funding for faculty dinners not related to content review
* Honoraria or costs in excess of fair market value
* Recognition awards
* Staff development
* Entertainment or social events
