SC Opioid Recovery Fund

Funder: South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund Board

Overview: The South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund (SCORF) was created by the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Act to administer and disperse funds from opioid settlement agreements. Money from the fund is distributed by the SCORF Board to help address and remediate the impact of the opioid epidemic in South Carolina.

Geographic Scope: South Carolina

Focus Areas: Proven methods for combating the opioid epidemic, including:

  • Expanding access to naloxone and other overdose reversal drugs

  • Increasing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) availability

  • Supporting pregnant and postpartum women with opioid use disorder

  • Expanding treatment for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS)

  • Improving warm handoff programs and recovery services

  • Providing treatment for incarcerated individuals

  • Implementing prevention programs

  • Expanding syringe service programs

  • Data collection and research to analyze effectiveness

  • Training and education for care professionals

  • Supporting first responders

  • Recovery housing

  • Addressing the needs of children and families affected by the opioid crisis
