Welcome to the Charity Sarum St Michael Educational Charity supports religious education by giving grants to individuals and organisations. We can support students in further education pursuing a career in teaching Religious Education (RE) and those pursuing a career in Ministry. We also support parishes, schools and other organisations broadening religious education and increasing access to religions and world views. The Charity focuses on those living, working, studying or operating in the Salisbury Diocese. However, individuals living or studying in neighbouring Dioceses (Bath & Wells, Bristol, Exeter, Oxford and Winchester Dioceses) may also apply. Please check the criteria closely. Mission and Core Objectives The object of the Charity is the advancement of education in accordance with the principles and doctrines of the Church of England in one or more of the following ways: In the promotion of the education and training of persons who are, or intend to become, engaged as teachers or otherwise in work connected with religious education;In the promotion of research in, and development of, religious education;In the provision and conduct, or assistance in the provision and conduct, of a chapel and chaplaincy providing for students’ religious worship, instruction and care;In the promotion of education by the provision of instruction, classes, lectures, books, libraries and reading rooms;In making grants to persons in need of financial assistance to enable them to attend an establishment of higher or further education or otherwise to pursue their education;And in such ways as the Governors may from time to time determine. Organisation Grants The charity gives grants to schools, parishes, churches and other organisations such as not-for-profits whose work may compliment RE teaching in schools or deliver initiative religion and worldwide views projects to a wider community.
