Geographic Scope: Lexington, Nebraska area

Purpose: To help charitable projects that answer the needs of persons living with disability in the Lexington area, enabling others to continue helping those with disabilities live fulfilling lives.

About Sara Rickertsen

Sara Rickertsen is an intellectually disabled adult who is non-verbal and has a seizure disorder. She began receiving therapy at nine months old and attended special education classes from age three to twenty-one. She now attends South Central Developmental Services in Cozad and resides at a group home in Lexington.

Eligible Applicants

• Organizations directly involved in working with physically and mentally handicapped individuals
• Organizations run by parents of children with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply

Eligible Projects

Projects that provide assistance to individuals with disabilities by promoting:
• Health
• Social and economic inclusion
• Access to education
• Professional training
• Employment
• Sport
• Culture
• Leisure activities

Award Information

• Award Amount: $1,000 annually per grant
• Number of Grants: Determined by the number of qualified applications received
• Application Timeline: LCF accepts applications any time throughout the year (rolling deadline)
