Although specific topic areas may shift, SAF is committed to advancing policies and partnerships that support sustainable forest management and empower forestry and natural resources professionals. The mission of the Society of American Foresters is: to advance sustainable management of forest resources through science, education, and technologyto enhance the competency of its membersto establish professional excellenceto use our knowledge, skills, and conservation ethic to ensure the continued health, integrity, and use of forests to benefit society in perpetuity. The Young Forester Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leadership by a young forestry professional in the development and promotion of an individual program or project, or for a sustained leadership role benefiting the practice of forestry and SAF. The award is presented at the SAF national convention and includes a honorarium of $500, complimentary convention registration, and up to $500 is available to cover travel expenses.
